Site Management Safety Training Scheme (5-Day)

Course description

The Site Management Safety Training Scheme has been approved by the Department for Education and Employment under Section 96 of The Skills and Learning Act 2000 and is recognised by such organisations as the Health & Safety Executive, the CIOB and the ICE as a relevant and valuable step towards a student becoming a competent manager of a building and construction site.

It helps site managers (and anyone wanting to become a site manager) to develop a better understanding of the legal, moral and social responsibilities of their role, and to manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions.

Aim and objectives of the course

The course aims to give an understanding of the delegates’ responsibilities and accountability for construction management including site safety, health and welfare, current health and safety legislation including risk assessment within the context of their management or supervisory role.

Delegates will also :

  • Recognise that a safe site is efficient, economical and productive and more specifically, they should benefit as the scheme encourages a positive and forward thinking attitude to managing health, safety and welfare at work.
  • Be brought up to date with the principles of current legislation, ACoP and Guidance relative to the organisation of construction sites.
  • Develops their skills in assessment, planning and implementation of safe systems and methods in the workplace.
  • Help examine how far they meet their own responsibilities for health, safety and welfare at work.

The two day refresher course is only available for candidates who have attended the five day course and can provide evidence of attending the original course.
