Abrasive Wheels & Face Fit Test
Course description
Employers are required to ensure that anyone changing and mounting a bonded abrasive wheel or disc has received the appropriate instruction and training on the aspects of safety in relation to abrasive wheels.
Aim and objectives of the course
This course has been developed and designed for users of portable grinding and cutting equipment and bench grinders. The aim of the course is to train operatives in the correct and safe use of abrasive wheels and discs, by instructing them on the correct selection, mounting and use of the disc and wheels. Operatives will also be given a particle face fit test on the RPE issued for use by their respective employers and a record of these tests will be submitted to their respective companies.

- Requirements of the PUWER regulations.
- Storage, selection and mounting of abrasive wheels & discs
- Hand arm vibration
- Safe working practices in the correct use of cutting and grinding tools
- Particle face fit test
- Practical test on selection and mounting of discs.
- Practical instruction on the use of cutting and grinding tools.
